The Culture Pass was born from the desire, affirmed during the 2017 presidential campaign, to provide young people with a new system promoting access to culture in order to strengthen and diversify cultural practices, by revealing the cultural richness of the territories.
The general interest mission of the Culture Pass acquired a new organization in July 2019, entrusting a simplified joint stock company (SAS) – whose shareholders are the Ministry of Culture and the Caisse des Dépôts by the through its Banque des Territoires activity – ensuring the management and development of the Culture Pass system.
In January 2022, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports joined this partnership as part of the implementation of the Culture pass for young people aged 15 to 17, and those in school in the year 2022. fourth to final year, in collaboration with the Ministries of Agriculture and Food, the Armed Forces and the Sea, in charge of agricultural, military and maritime education.
The result of a leading partnership between the State, cultural partners, the school environment and local authorities, the Culture pass today gives its full place to culture for young people by allowing them to go to their encounter and emancipate oneself in the exercise of the autonomy of one’s own cultural choices.
The Culture pass supports young people under 18 on a daily basis by offering them greater access to culture through a collective part, from 6th grade and an individual part, from 15 years old.
Intended to strengthen their cultural practices independently, the individual offer encourages them in their personal choices while the collective offer, intended for students from fourth to final year, allows them to have group experiences with cultural partners in the framework of outings and collective meetings.
The individual offer is accessible via the application and allows young people to benefit from a credit depending on their age (€20 at 15 years old, €30 at 16 and 17 years old), while the collective offer makes the subject to a reservation by their teacher on a dedicated platform (amounts of 25 euros for students in classes from sixth to third, 30 euros for second and CAP students, and 20 euros for students in first and final).
The Culture pass allows young people aged 18 to have €300 for 24 months to use on the application to discover and reserve local cultural offerings and digital offers.
The Culture pass aims to encourage meetings between cultural partners and users, it is therefore not possible to have material goods delivered. Purchases of digital goods (ebook, SVoD, video games, etc.) are capped at €100.
